Churches have an excellent opportunity to engage with their new or returning MP immediately after the General Election.

As the ones who have been elected to speak on behalf of our neighbourhoods, churches can offer prayerful and practical support and encouragement to enable this to happen well, and for the whole community to benefit.

Here are some things you could do:

• Send a card to your MP’s Westminster Office – let them know that your church is praying for them and you would like to support their work
• Invite your MP to a church service – not to preach at them or give them a ‘shopping list’, but to listen to their story and their motivations, and develop a relationship based on listening and understanding.
• Attend a webinar – we have two introductory Constituency Action Network webinars to choose from, on 29 August (7:30pm) and 4 September (12:30pm). These explain ways that your congregation can develop a meaningful relationship with your local MP.
